Owner Won Joo and his wife have been a part of the West Hartford community for the past 15 years when he relocated from Long Island with his father and stepmother. The family decided to bring their long successful business acumen to the northeast, and now own and operate Silk Nails salons in Unionville, Farmington, Granby, and two locations in West Hartford.

Won manages the Farmington Avenue salon in West Hartford. When a beauty parlor a few doors down closed, Won chose that location for his new restaurant endeavor,Pick & Mix.

Since opening its doors to the public in 2010, Pick & Mix has offered a unique, fast, and fresh take on traditional Korean fare, all served with a smile of course. Patrons are greeted warmly in a clean, modern atmosphere and will soon realize Pick & Mix is an experience like no other.  The menu offers dishes such as bulgogi, spicy pork, crispy chicken wings, fried or steamed dumplings, soups, low fat frozen yogurt, and a signature Korean dish, bibimbap, which literally translates to “mixed meal.”

The concept of Pick & Mix is simple: you pick the ingredients in your own bibimbap dish, then we mix it up fresh just for you! Customers can design their own dish after choosing the base of rice or noodles, a variety of fresh vegetables, and then protein of egg, beef, chicken, or tofu. Your custom creation is then sauteed together in a matter of minutes, and the finishing touch of your choice of sauce is added. Feeling adventurous? Try our soy lemon sauce! Or if you like things kicked up a notch, finish your bibimbap with a spicy chili paste. When you create your own dish, the possibilities are endless!
